Kids

A child’s foot develops rapidly in the first 3 years and by the age of 12 normal adult posture and running style is obtained.  With the threat of obesity and Type II Diabetes on the rise it is important that children lead active lives.

During these critical years of active development the child can experience foot pain and leg aches.  Sever’s and Osgood Schlatters disorders are common in active children who subject their heel and knee bone to excessive stress.  Children with flat shaped feet are often more prone to injury in the arch, calf muscles or shin and may find running sports difficult.

Bigfoot Podiatrists re-educate running style, use orthotics to re-distribute pressure under foot, and prescribe specific sports and school shoes to help manage injury in children and help them resume in recreational, club or elite level sport.
