Rugby

This sport involves unique skills that are determined by position - the agility, speed, and acceleration required of the backs and the explosive power, upper body strength, and endurance of the forwards. Traditional boots are not designed with the specific needs of each player position and there is high rate of hamstring and calf injury as a result.   Bigfoot  has been working with Asics who are at the forefront of  boot design.  Their boots carry a sole design  that reduces hamstring workrate and likelihood of injury.

These are the key injuries that Bigfoot Podiatrists manage in rugby players:
  • Plantar Faciosis (heel pain)
  • Hamstring  tear
  • Achilles Tendonosis
  • Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (shin splints)
  • Non improving ankle sprain
  • Sprains – ankle and knee (ACL)
  • Knee pain following return to activity from ACL reconstructions
